Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatisis (NASH) are emerging as the most prevalent causes of liver disease in Western countries. There are various methods used to evaluate fat content as well as other characteristics of the liver. Medical imaging provides a non-invasive approach to quantify tissue characteristics of the liver while reducing errors in diagnosis and disease staging.
